First Novel

I have just updated the page for "I'm the King of the Castle".
Although I was unable to quite grasp the text as wholly as I would have liked, it proposes intriguing themes and questions concerning our humanity and the treatment of different social groups. Written during the thick of the cold war, the book reflects many of the views and anticipations of the time, presenting its own power struggle similar to that which once existed between the world's Eastern and Western superpowers.

It one of this year's iGCSE English Literature texts under the Cambridge International Examinations board and I would suggest that those who haven't read it before at least give it a try.

There was even a French film adaptation released in 1989. It is called "Je suis le Seigneur du Chateau". I have only seen part of the film but I would recommend it to those who would like a fresh perspective on the novel because it differs considerably from the book in some key scenes.
